Yesterday I went garage sale-ing for the first time this year. Apart from sitting on my derriere :-), it's one of my favorite pastimes.
I wasn't looking for anything specific, and had no specific destination in mind. I just love finding bargains. I'd drive until I'd see a sign for a garage sale, then meander my way there. I wound up going to 5, and I think my money was well spent, but time will tell.
I'm an avid reader, so the 8 paperbacks that I bought for .25 each was a deal, especially when you consider that the average novel is at least $8. I got a hot/cold, one quart thermos for $1.50, half price from its original $3 (I guess there's something to said for going late in the day.) Works great too, - I tempered it last night. I also picked up some earrings, and a dvd.
My biggest, (most daring) purchase was a Revere pressure cooker which I paid $20 for. It looks unused, like brand new. The elderly gentlemen that I bought it from says it was used twice, and that it usually retails for $99. I can neither confirm nor deny this, since I was only able to find my particular brand/model once online, and it was priced @ $60. It also came with 2 cookbooks. I can't wait to get cooking! Hopefully I didn't go off half-cocked on a fool's mission. Right now I don't know if I was a fool, or just foolhardy. LOL! Guess I'll find out soon enough.. Wish me luck....
One of my favorite passtimes also, my momand I yard sale all the time.
