Short on time, but I wanted to suggest to those that haven't already done so, to check out the new A&E Series, "Longmire." It premiered on Sunday, June 3, but I just got to watch it yesterday. Robert Taylor plays dedicated. longtime, long suffering sheriff of Absaroka, Wyoming, Walt Longmire. Walt has been grieving the death of his wife for the past year, and is prodded out of his 'cocoon' by a murder in his jurisdiction, and with the discovery that one of his deputies has decided to run for sheriff, against him. Kate Sackhoff plays a relative newcomer to his department from the east coast. If you're partial to story lines with good character development, with a good old fashioned murder mystery, and a few plot twists thrown in for good measure, you'll enjoy this series. I definitely did, and it has been added to my queue!
In the opposite corner , we have "The Firm." I don't hate this show, I record it, and though I don't often manage to watch it every week because of time constraints, I get around to it eventually...
This TV series is a sequel to the movie of the same name. It's 10 years after the fact, the mob boss is dead, and The extended McDeere family (Mitch, his wife Abby, his daughter Claire, his brother Ray, and Ray's girlfriend Tammy) have left The Witness Protection Program. Mitch and Ray, a private detective, have opened their own law firm, and begun taking on new clients, while associating with a new shady firm, Kinross & Clark. They're struggling both literally & figuratively. The plot is very plausible. You want to see them succeed, and live to fight another day
My problem lies with the characters of Abby & Tammy, wife and girlfriend. Tammy's acting is just way OVER THE TOP. She plays a computer whiz type sex kitten. Tone it down a bit please... I don't know how to describe Abby...The pale skin, wide eyes, the hesitant speech, pregnant pauses, make me think she's not long for this world. For my money, she's woefully miscast! If they got rid of Abby, and toned down Tammy, the series would be immensely improved, I think. I know, I know, petty comments. But that's what I think, and I'm just doing what I do best!
